2027 Spoken Sanskrit Spring Camp

Dr. Sadananda Das, a renowned Sanskrit lecturer from Leipzig University in Germany, will once again be hosting a Spring Camp for Spoken Sanskrit in Hong Kong! Despite the common misconception that Sanskrit is a "dead language" used only in written texts, it is actually a "living language" perfectly suited for modern everyday conversation. This immersive Sanskrit program is designed for beginners with no prior Sanskrit speaking experience, as well as those with some advanced knowledge. The course focuses on developing spoken skills such as self-introduction, discussing personal interests, and storytelling. Participants do not need prior knowledge of spoken Sanskrit, but a basic understanding of classical Sanskrit grammar and the devanāgarī script is required. Through repetitive grammatical drill, multimedia tools and interactive learning, students will enhance their confidence and ability to use Sanskrit as a living language. At the end of the camp, conversations about daily life and interests will make learning Sanskrit a vibrant and enriching experience, further enhancing comprehension of written Sanskrit.

This program is a rare opportunity within our region, saving students travel time and costs!
